C. E. Lookingbill Died at Nevaa

The Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, 83, Nevada, died last night at about 9 p. m. at the Story County Hospital.

Born at Guthrie county, he had been a resident of Nevada since 1919.

The Rev. Lookingbill was a retired businessman and minister. He served three terms as state representative from Story and Boone counties. He was a former mayor of Nevada and Maxwell.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marie Loucks, Baltimore, Md., one grandson and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Nevada. The Rev. James Dendler and the Rev. Harold Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Rev. Carmen E. Lookingbill, 83, resident of Story County for over 30 years, died Wednesday at 8:50 p. m. in the Story County Hospital. He had been a patient there since Tuesday, March 4.

Funeral services will be at the Nevada Methodist church Saturday at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Harold E. Smith of the Fernald Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery beside his wife who died in Nevada June 10, 1956.

Lookingbill, a resident of Nevada since 1919, served three terms as State Representative from Story and Boone counties. He was a former mayor of Nevada and of Maxwell.

A native of Guthrie County, Iowa, he moved to Story County after his marriage to Addie Reitz of Maxwell Sept. 27,1900.

He had always been active in civic affairs and in church work, being ordained a minister in the Brethren church in 1910 in Maxwell. He later became identified as minister of the Methodist church, his previous ordination being accepted.

Surviving are the daughter, Marie, Mrs. A. La Monte Loucks and her husband of Baltimore, Md., one grandson, Robert Loucks and two great grandchildren, Bradford and Cherry Loucks of West Nyack, N. Y.

The body will rest at the Ryan Funeral Home until the time of service. It has been suggested by the family, that those wishing to do so may make a memorial to the deceased by mailing check, payable to the Heart Fund, to Wesley Alexander, Nevada, 1228 Third street.
