Oscar Owens Thrasher, Jr., 71, of Nevada passed away August 30, 2012 at his home. Graveside services will be at a later date.

Oscar Thrasher, Jr. was born December 16, 1940 to Oscar Sr. and Grace (Newman) Thrasher in Ames, Iowa. He worked for Coopers Mill and the Ames Tribune. He attended Ontario Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of the Story and Boone Counties area. He loved dogs, trains, enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and woodworking.

Oscar is survived by six children, Nancy Thrasher of Boone, Marvin Thrasher of Bruno, Missouri, Marsha McCorkle of Kansas, Suzanne Scott of Ankeny, John Thrasher of Boone, and Mark Thrasher of Boone; many grandchildren; his brother Junior Thrasher of Ames, Everett Thrasher of Boone, Adelle Randolf of California, Mara Webb of Texas, and Roxanne Thompson of Ames; and his significant others Margret Heathcote, Marie Lynch, Gibb Smith, Marilyn and Glen Harris, and Lee Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Sephina Thrasher; his sister-in-law Shirley; and his niece Sharron.
