Phyllis Malmanger Hermanson

DIED: August 28, 2012
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Phyllis Malmanger Hermanson died on Tuesday, August 28, at her home in Story City.
Phyllis was born on October 25, 1921, in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Petra (Olson) Malmanger.

She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church. After graduation from Story City High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers' College in Cedar Falls and received a B.A. degree in music education, with applied majors in voice and piano. She had been a public school music teacher, a piano tutor and choir director. She was a vocal soloist, a pianist, and a music arranger and composer.

Phyllis married Robert Hermanson on June 18, 1945. She was an active member of the Story City Federated Women's Club, St. Petri Lutheran Church and Kong Sverre Lodge of the Sons of Norway.

She is survived by her children: Anne (Tom) Mundahl, Carl Hermanson, Philip (Karen) Hermanson and Sylvia Hermanson; her grandchildren: Hannah (Mike) Imankulov and Noah Mundahl; great-grandchildren: Kai and Mira Imankulov; her first cousin Frances Bartlett Kinne, and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son-in-law, Lawrence Rosenfield.
Memorials may be given to St. Petri Lutheran Church, Riverside Bible Camp or Bethany Manor Foundation.
