Marjorie (Marge) Jean Corsbie was born November 13, 1924 in Lorimor, Iowa to Frank and Eva (Corneilson) Livingston. She was the youngest of seven children and graduated from Lorimor Schools.
After graduation Marge moved to Des Moines to begin her adult life. Then on August 5, 1945, she married the love of her life, Rex. They were married 64 years at the time of Rex's death in 2010. When Marge and Rex decided to start a family they adopted two children, Marvin and Sheila.
Marge and Rex lived in Des Moines until 1961. While in Des Moines she worked at Westover Baptist Church. The family was active members of Grace United Methodist Church. In 1961 the family moved to Roland. They became members of Bergen Lutheran Church, where Marge was very active. She sang in the church choir, was on the church council, past officer of the ladies group and also participated on many committees.
Marge worked as church secretary at Bergen for several years. She then worked for Dr. Robert Larson in Roland until her retirement in 1983. Being involved in the Roland community was very important to Marge. She was a member of WaTanYe and the Legion Auxiliary. Being a great cook, Marge prepared and served dinner weekly to the men's' Kiwanis group. Each year Roland had a big parade and Marge would always help with a float for the parade.
Organization and detail were very important to Marge throughout her life. She was always concerned about others and made sure that she could help in any way that she could.
Marge was a member of the Women's National Traffic Safety Council for several years. She was also active in the Iowa Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary where she held offices on the county, district and state level.
After retirement, Rex and Marge would spend the winters in Mesa, Arizona. In 1996, they sold their home in Roland to make Mesa their permanent home. They became active members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Marge was an active member of the POW Auxiliary, holding different office positions.
In 2009, due to declining health of both Marge and Rex, they moved into the assisted living facility in Fountain Hills; where she resided until the time of her death.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband (Rex); mother; father; three brothers; four sisters; several brother and sister-in-laws; as well as nephews and nieces.
Surviving are her son, Marv (Cindy) of Mesa; daughter, Sheila of Urbandale, Iowa; two granddaughters Erin (Donovan) and Amanda; and four great-grandchildren; Lucas, Natalie, Leila and Nicholas. Also surviving is sister-in-law Marie Hall as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was held May 19th at 10:30 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at 612 S. Ellsworth Road Mesa, Arizona. Interment will be at the Phoenix National Memorial Cemetery
