Virginia Ann Hoagland
May 7, 1946 - November 7, 2011Virginia Ann Hoagland, age 65, of Ames, formerly of New York, New York and Monroe, died Monday Nov. 7 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Gathering of friends and family visitation will be Friday, Nov. 11, Noon until service time with a 2:00 p.m. Funeral service at Monroe Presbyterian Church Monroe, Iowa.
Virginia was born May 7, 1946 in Newton, the daughter of Charles and Clarice Hoagland. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1964; she received her BA from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana in 1968 and her masters in Occupational Therapy from New York University and was a Registered Occupational Therapist for the Veterans Administration in New York. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, needle point and other crafts, stamp and postcard collecting, music, singing and her electronic keyboard. She devoted her life to those with infirmities and the less fortunate of our world.
She is survived by her brother, Jim (Carolyn) Hoagland of Ames, nieces Elizabeth (Jason) Hart of Georgetown, KY and Marsha (Todd) Christ of Fremont, NE and nephew Ryan Keller of Des Moines, great niece Karrie Thompson of Fremont, NE and aunt, Alice Hummel of Des Moines, many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her partner, Jose Ascar.
