David Christopher Henry Rolf
July 3, 1922 - November 3, 2011

David Christopher Henry Rolf age 89, of Bethany Manor in Story City formerly of Ames died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at Bethany Manor in Story City. A visitation will be from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service, Monday, Nov. 7th in the Chapel at Bethany Manor, in Story City. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames.

David was born July 3, 1922 in Westboro, Mo., the son of Martin and Ella Rolf. He graduated from Northboro High School in Northboro. He was in the US Army from 1942 - 1946 and a WW II veteran. He married Marjorie Smith on Feb. 6, 1943 in Elkins, W. Va. They farmed in Page County. The couple moved to Ames in 1959, where David worked for Motor Sales as an auto mechanic. He then worked for the City of Ames Water Department, before retiring. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames. David enjoyed family and friends, card clubs and camping.

David is survived by his two daughters, Dava Lynne (Jim) Dahlgran, of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Randi (Jack) Morgan, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandchildren, Chris (Kevin) Bettis, of Ames, Kelly (Janeen) Walker, of Gap, Pa., Emily (Wolfgang) Weichbrod, of Monroe, Wisc., Thomas (Andrea) Morgan, of Seattle, Wash., and John Morgan, of Fort Collins, Colo.; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie.
