Gladys Arlene Williams
BORN: November 30, 1916
DIED: December 13, 2011
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa
Gladys Arlene Hanson was born November 30, 1916 to David and Bertha (Enderson) Hanson on a farm in Hamilton County. She was baptized by Pastor Norstad at the Clear Lake and Ellsworth Church in Hamilton County, and confirmed her faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Pastor Oppedal. She attended school in rural Hamilton County and Story City High School, after which she was employed in Ames.
Gladys was united in marriage September 18, 1940 to Walter J. Williams at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland by Pastor Holan. They made their home on the Williams Century Farm in rural Jewell. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. As a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she served her Lord in various activities including Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, the ladies W.M.F., and Bible studies. She loved baking and sharing with others. The last years she enjoyed living at Timberland Village in Story City.
Gladys passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at 95 years of age.
She is survived by three sons, Gary (Jan) Williams, Paul (Jennifer) Williams, and Ronald (Penny) Williams; five grandchildren, Stacia (Jason) Owens, Alicia Williams, Kirk (Christie) Williams, Meredith Williams, and Andrew (Beth) Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Natasha and Katarina Owens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Elaine Olsen, Betty Jane Tegland, Bernice Hove, and Blanche Johnson; and her brother Donald Hanson.
