Marjorie Torgerson

July 23, 1922 - February 4, 2012

Madrid, formerly of Slater, Iowa

Marjorie Torgerson, 89, passed peacefully away on Saturday, February 4 at the Madrid Nursing Home. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, with family present at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. Interment will follow at the Slater Cemetery.

Marj was born in Jordan, Iowa on July 23, 1922, to George and Nettie (Rountree) Buhrman. She graduated from Madrid High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Torgerson on December 17, 1944. They spent their life on the farm in rural Slater. Marj was active in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, JU Club, Neighborhood Club and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, Roger (Susie), of Mesa, Arizona; daughter, Marla (Mike) Miller, of Ames; and grandson, Steven Miller, of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, George and Nettie Buhrman; and brother, Vernon Buhrman.
