EAST INDIAN, Jan. 11th 1879.

The last week has been one of mourning for East Indian. We have been called to look on for the last time the friendly faces of three of our citizens and friends...

The next was Robert McCartney who died Jan. 7th. He was near 90 years old. Father McCartney had been very feeble for many years and for the last year being nearly helpless.

He also was an old settler having lived on East Indian some 25 or 26 years. His wife preceded him some 12 years before. He was a member of the M. E. Church and lived a devoted christian and was ever ready at any time to be called away. May his example be closely followed by us all.
