Cambridge Dispatch: ....G. W. Thorwell, a farmer residing a mile a half south of Elwell was drowned in Skunk river last Wednesday evening. Mr. Thorwell in company with Chas. John and Mr. Holland were driving cattle out of the timber, it being covered with water, and not noticing how near he had come to the river, he stepped off into fifteen feet of water. Mr. Holland jumped to save him, but got tangled in some brush and couldn't get to him. The body was found the same evening where he fell in.
