From Story County Watchman July 12, 1901

Mrs. Malissa Short Staurday died at her residence in the south part of the city. She has long been a sufferer and the end came as a relief to her sufferings. The funeral was held on Monday fromthe home under the ministration of Rev. Dudley. The remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery to await the last call.

Mrs. Meddaugh desires to return her thanks to the many kind neighbors and friends for their kindness and assistance during the recent illness and death of her daughter, Mrs. Short.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. Meddaugh" was Eliza A. Deloe, who married three times. Her first marriage was to Anderson Johnson, her second marriage was to Melissa's father, John Smith, and the last marriage was to Joseph Meddaugh. Melissa (Smith) Short was married to Andrew J. Short in Story County, Iowa.
