Ames Intelligencer: ....Sarah A. Brier, born of Scotch-Irish parents in Amagh, Ireland March 24, 1834. Married to Ed. Loughran Rev. 6, 1854 in Washington county, Pa. came to Des Moines in 1859 and removed to Ames in January 1885 died in Ames July 13, 1901. Early in life she united with the United Presbyterian church. Funeral services conducted by Rev. A. C. Douglas. She leaves a husband and eight children.

Mrs. E. Loughran died at her home Saturday night at quite an advanced age leaving a husband and children to mourn her loss. Tuesday the remains were tenderly laid away to await the last call. She was a lady of rare qualities and will be greatly missed by her circle of friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
