From Story County Watchman January 7, 1898

Colo Watchman.

Harvey H. Moorehouse was born in Lee county, Ill., Sept 30, 1873 and died in Colo, on Jan 2, 1898, aged 24 years, 3 months and 3 days. When about three years of age he removed to LaSalle county, Illinois, with his family and lived there until about two years ago when he and his brother Elmer bought the Hix & Allen farm four miles north of Colo and purchased the old livery barn belonging to W. Y. Sellers. Soon after he sold this property to Shaw & Binder and purchased the lots upon which he erected our new livery barn which is said to be one of the finest and best equipped in Central Iowa. Of late he turned his attention to the sale and exchange of real estate at which calling he was building a large and extensive business. He was an enterprising and energetic citizen who made his influence felt even in the short time that he was a resident of our town. Harvey, as we all familiarly called him was a genial and happy disposition making friends wherever he went. His friends here were legion and they will not only miss him as a friend but as a man whose interests were in full sympathy with all that advanced and improved his town. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow. The remains were taken Sunday night by his parents to Mendota, Ill. for interment.
