Ann Ginter was born in Union Co., Penn., March 23, 1829 and died in Colo, Iowa, Jan. 4, 1898. She was married to Thos. Cummings, Dec. 29, 1849. Five children were born to them, two sons and three daughters. The daughters preceded the mother to the other world. The sons Lloyd and Humes are the only survivors of the first union. Mr. Cummings died 34 years ago. The widow moved to Illinois and from there came to Iowa and settled in Colo. In 1870, May 5, she was united in marriage to J. W. Gilger. One son, Ulysses Grant was born to them. She was converted and joined the M. E. church in this place and gave evidence of a true and consistent Christian character. By her death the church has sustained a great loss, the community a friend and the neighborhood and family a devoted wife and mother. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Baker of the M. E. church. The precious dust was placed in the Colo cemetery awaiting the resurrection of the just. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their great affliction.
