IN MEMORIAM.--Weidner--In the Indian Creek congregation, at her home in Nevada, Story county, Iowa, October 27, 1897. Sister Sarah Weidner, wife of Brother Joseph Weidner, aged 56 years, 9 months and 19 days, was born in Summerset county, Pennsylvania, her father died when but a child, moved with her mother and stepfather to Stark county, Ohio, after living there a short time they moved to Waterloo, Black Hawk county, Iowa, where she lived until the summer of 1870, when she was united in marriage to Joseph Weidner and moved to Story county, where whe lived until her death. She sought the kingdom of God and united with the Brethren church at the age of 16 years and lived a faithful member until she was called away. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and a true Christian, one who always had an open heart and a welcome home to all. She leaves a husband, one daughter, three sons, three step-sons, and many friends to mourn his loss, but our loss is her gain. Her remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery until resurrection.
Weidner.--In the same church and at the same place, November 12, 1897, of diptheria, Annie May Weidner, daughter of Joseph Weidner, aged 21 years, 8 months and 25 days. She joined the Brethren church at the age of twelve years and lived a faithful memeber until her death. Before she died she gave themall goodby, and as her brother was not permitted to be in, he looked in the window, she gave him goodby and threw a kiss to him and said, "We won't have to say goodby in heaven." She will be greatly missed at home and by her many friends, as she always had a kind word and sweet smile for all. She was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery.
Weidner.--In the same church and at Waterloo, Iowa, October 14, 1897, of diptheria, daughter of Brother Joseph and Sister Sarah Weidner, aged 16 years, 6 months and 16 days. She went with her parents to attend the Love feast at the South Waterloo church, where she took sick and died. She was taken into the church when but twelve years of age and was a faithful member. She was a kind and loving child, took interest in her Sabbath school and Junior League, of which she was a member. Her seat at school, which was always filled, will now be vacant. She was loved by all who met her, for she always had a kind word. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and school mates, and especially at home. Her remians were laid to rest near the Brethren church at Waterloo. The mother took sick with the lung fever while caring for her, and on her return home took worse, when the diptheria set in, which caused her death so soon after. The funeral sermon of the dear ones was preached on January 2, 1898, by Brother John H. Cakerice, of Conrad, Grundy county, Iowa, from St. John 11:28, and Rev. 14:13.
