From Story County Watchman October 29, 1897

Oct. 20, Mrs. Ed. Coleman died at her home in south-east part of town after several years of ill-health borne patiently. Mrs. Coleman was born 68 years ago, she moved with her family from Illinois to Story county 26 years ago, and New Albany township has been her home ever since. About a year ago her residence was changed to Colo. Her loss is mourned by her husband, one son, James, of Colo, five daughters--Mrs. John Hamm of Belle Plaine, Miss Mary of Dickinson, North Dakota, Misses Ella and Kate of Marshalltown, and MIss Lizzie of this place--, besides a large circle of friends. She was of an amiable disposition and was beloved and highly respected by all. She will indeed be missed in the home, and to no small degree in the community. The funeral services were held in the Catholic church by Rev. Father Hennessy, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery Oct. 22. The people all extend the family their sympathy.
