Obituary.

Robert S. Golly was born at Lee Center, N. Y. , Dec 31st, 1828, and died at Zearing, Oct. 17, 1897, aged 68 years, 9 mo., 17 days. The deceased lived in the state of N. Y. until about 26 years of age. He was married to Sarah Harger, Dec. 19, 1864, and the following year they moved the Pecatonica, Ill. Two daughters were born to them but died but when a few years of age. He moved to Iowa about 1873 and and has resided in Story county since that time. He was well known and respected in this locality by all who knew him for his honesty and integrity and many other principles which untied constitute a good man. The familiar face of "Uncle Rob" as he was usually called, will be greatly missed by his many friends and especially by the children for whom he invariably had a kind word and pleasant greetng.

He leaves four brothers, John S. of Zearing, Iowa, Thomas, of Rockford, Ill., Hugh S. of Dubuque, Ia. and Andrew, of Pecatonica, Ill. and one sister, Elizabeth A. Thorn of Fredricksburg, Ia. besides many relatives to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held in the Christian church, in Zearing, Oct. 19, 1897, the Rev. S. S. Murphey officiating assisted by Rev. S. Skogsburg and was attended by a large congregation after which he was laid to rest in the Zearing cemetery. A good and true man has gone to his rest.
