He was also a member of Jason D. Ferguson Post, G. A. R., having been a member of Co. K., Eighth Iowa Cavalry. The funeral will be held at the residence at 2 p. m. on Sunday next. During his long residence in this city Mr. S. has been an upright and honorable business man and stood high in the community, all of whom are sorry to know that the end has come. He leaves a wife to mourn his loss and look forward to a meeting in that future land from which there shall be no partings.

As per announcement last week the funeral of Chas. E. Shedd came off Sunday afternoon. The assemblage was very large and everything passed off appropriately. The sermon upon the occasion was preached by Rev. Horswell. After the sermon the cortege passed to the cemetery where remarks were made by Rev. Horswell and prayer by Rev. Shrader. The interment was made under direcdtion of Nevada Lodge of Masons who performed their ritualistic duties in the regular form of the order, there being a large number present. The day was hot and many suffered from the heat while attending the last sad rites. The following resolutions were ordered spread upon the minutes in the accumomed shape:
To Nevada Lodge No. 99, A. F. & A. M., and Nevada 3x3 Chapter No. 92: We your joint committee appointed to prepare suitable resolutions of respect and regret because of the death of our brother and companion Chas. E. Shedd, most respectfully submitting the following:
Resolved: That in the death of our brother and companion Chas. E. Shedd we sustain the loss of one whose faithful attendance at our meetings we shall sadly miss; whose word was honor and truth, one true to his pledges and vows, kand hearted almost to a fault, and courteous to all who knew him. And,
Resolved, That we extend to his bereaved wife our sympathy and condolence in her loss of a husband and to his family in the loss of a strong protector and faithful friend. And,
Resolved, That while we bow in submission to the order of Grand Master of the Universe in his call for our brother we will remember our brother for his many virtues and in our regard and respect will drape his vacant chair for 30 days. And,
Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon our records and a copy thereof be presented to the bereaved family, and that copy presented to each of the papers of our city publications.
