From Story County Watchman February 21, 1896

Monday Wm. Hand was called to Xenia, Iowa, by the death of his father, Mathias Hand. He was injured by a horse jamming him some three weeks ago, resulting in his death Monday morning. The remains were interred at that point. Mr. Hand formerly resided in this palce and is well known to many of our people, all of whom will be pained to learn of the end as above.
