From Story County Watchman Octber 27, 1893

DIED:--On Sunday morning Isaac Walker, after a lingering illness. Mr. Walker was a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, and was born in September 1828. He came to Nevada in 1854 since which time he has made this his home. He spent his earlier days working on a farm but soon secured enough of this world's goods and purchased one for himself. Since his residence in this place he has always shown himself to be public spirited and alive to the best interests of the locality and it can be said of him that he set out the first tree ever planted within our city limits of Nevada, which was in the spring of 1855. He enlisted in the 14th Iowa infantry in 1861 and served faithfully until discharged from disability after two years continuous service. In October 1863, he was married to Miss Julia Romane with whom he has since lived and who survives him to mourn over her irrepairable loss. He was a member of Jason D. Ferguson Post G. A. R. of Nevada Lodge A. F. & A. M., and 3x3 Chapter of Masons, who paid tribute to his memory by their turning out in full strength at the last sad rites which were under the direction of Nevada Lodge of Masons. The sermon for the occasion was preached by Rev. Harvey, of Des Moines, who gave an excellent talk upon the immutability of life. Our fellow citizen, Otis Briggs, also paid him an exceeding fine tribute in his remaks. Col. Scott paid a very fine tribute to his moral and social worth and integrity. The remains were interred in the Nevada Cemetery which he had done so much to adorn and of which organization he was one of the oldest and most substantial members.

The following resolutions were passed by Nevada Lodge A. F. & A. M. at their meeting Tuesday:
