From Story County Watchman May 26, 1893

About midnight Saturday night one Allen Lloyd, a painter, was killed at Roland while in a drunken brawl by some party. Coroner Chamberlain was at once notified and at once went to the scene. A jury was impannelled who upon due examination declared that he came to his dath by a broken skull from blows given with murderous intent and indicated John Grandy and Jonas Grindem as the probable guilty parties. They were at once arrested by Sheriff Ashford and brought to Nevada and the preliminary examination was held by Justice Gifford who hel them to the next grand jury. The murdered man has been a resident of that place for some months and it is not known where his relatives or friends reside.
