From Story County Watchman July 23, 1886

Philip Murphy, aged about 69 years died on Thursday of last week at his residence south of town. He has been a resident in this county for a number of years and is well known, and his many friends were sorry to learn of his disease. The remains were intered in the cemetery on Saturday last. The services were conducted by Father Murphy after the form of the Catholic society of which he was a member.
