Walter Orland Bacon, son of Devello and Jeanette Hill Bacon was born April 3, 1896 at Guthrie Center, Iowa, and passed away December 8, 1918, at his home at Nevada, Iowa. At the age of 22 years, 8 months and 5 days. At the age of 3 years he moved with his parents to Maxwell, Iowa, where he received his education and lived until his marriage to Miss Grace Burwell on April 4, 1917, at Monmouth, Iowa. He lived on the farm east of Nevada, Iowa, being an employee of Harris Evers garage until his death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and a ten months old baby boy, one brother, Charles of Maxwell, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. L. Roy Ellis of Maxwell, Iowa and Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Nevada, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death last spring, his mother dying February 28, 1918, and his father March 12, 1918. He also leaves other relatives with close friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved ones especially the young wife and mother. Private funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. A. D. Burwell, south of Monmouth, Thursday forenoon, Rev. John Dawson of the M. E. Church officiating. Interment was made in the Smithtown Cemetery.
