Obituary
Died, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Pickett, this city, March 5, 1895, Mr. John W. Pickett, their son.
Mr. Pickett was born March 31, 1862 in Columbia township, Tama county, Iowa. His residence had been in that county until about two years ago, when he went upon the road as a traveling salesman. Since the parents moved to this city he has made his home with them when not away on business.
About five weeks ago he returned home sick, his malady developed into brain trouble. His death was quite sudden and has brought a severe shock upon the family and the community, "Wallie," as he was always called in the home ws the child of his mother's prayers, and before his death he had sought to make his God, he and his mother having often read the Bible and prayed together. He was at one time a member of the Baptist church in Tama, Iowa, and he was a member of the Odd Fellows Association. He has passed away in the prime of life. His early death will be deeply lamented by his many friends in Nevada and elsewhere.
The funeral was largely attended. It was conducted at the Pickett home, Thursday, at 2 p. m., by the Rev. J. R. Herswell assisted by Rev. A. B. Schrader. Tender words were spoken, the music was especially appropriate and everything was done that loving hearts could do to molify the sorrow of the stricken hearts. The remains were entered in the city cemetery.
