The Story County Watchman March 17, 1893

DIED - Mrs. Langdon Drake, who died at ther home in Mullen settlement March 1, 1893, was buried on Thursday afternoon. Rev. R. A. Ferguson, of Maxwell, conducted the funeral services, assisted by Rev. Allison and Rev. Henderson. The services were held in the Summit chapel and were well attended by the friends and neighbors.

Lydia Margaret Cone was born in Hardin county, Va., Sept. 23, 1829; came to Franklin county, Ohio, when young; was married to Langdon Drake July 7, 1854. Soon after they moved to Story county, Ia., where they brought up their family and where they ended their lives. Mr. Drake died Feb. 22, 1890. Mrs. Drake was a good Christian woman and very highly respected by all. She was the mother of ten children five of whom died before the mother. She will be very much missed, especially by her family.
