Garlene Francis, of North Carolina and formerly of Ames, has died. Services are pending for Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, with Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Garlene Burdette Francis, 71, of Morganton, N.C., and formerly of Ames, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 30, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service time, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Interment will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Garlene Francis was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Garland and Ellavine Kathryn (Miller) Burdette. She had been a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Francis, a daughter, Kathryn (Jarrod) Bailey, and a grandson, Derek Keller, all of Morganton, N.C.; a brother, Mike (Debbie) Burdette, of Boone; and a sister, Barb (Gary) Hanson, of Ramona, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome Francis; and two brothers, Jim and Gary Burdette.
