THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

Marlene H. Stemler, 78, of Ames, formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, with her daughters by her side at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Being respectful of Marlene’s wishes, a private memorial graveside service will be in the spring at Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.

Marlene was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Geneva, to Hugh and Anna (Miller) Craig. On Sept. 15, 1948, she married William LeRoy Stemler in Nevada. She was co-owner of the Stemler Milling and Mixing Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Gail) Willson, of Danville, Calif., and Linda Stemler (Rosemary Scott), of Ames; two grandchildren, Andrew (Maria) Willson, of Westchester, Calif., and Lee Willson, of Long Beach, Calif.; and one sister, Mildred Beach of Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy in 2003; one son, Craig in 1975; and one niece.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services has been entrusted with Marlene and her family.
