Death of Mother Kendig
Mrs. Elizabeth Kendig died at her home south of Collins last Friday, July 24, 1908, from a complication of diseases. The funeral service was held at Ashton church Sunday, following which interment occurred in the Ashton cemetery near the church.
OBITUARY. Elizabeth Rinehart was born Nov. 1, 1839, and died July 24, 1908, age 68 years, 8 months and 24 days.
She was born and reared in Lancaster Co., Penn., and was united in marriage to Jacob B. Kendig on June 26, 1861. To this union seven children were born, one of whom died in infancy.
In early womanhood she united with the church of the "Brethren," to which faith she remained faithful. She leaves a husband and six children, four boys and two girls, to mourn her loss.
A sweet, pure, beautiful life is ended here. The busy hands are still: Hands so eager and so willing to help her loved ones. "Blessed is the memory of an old-fashioned mother."
Other faces will be forgotten, but hers will shine on till the light from heaven's portals shall glorify our own.
She loved home and all that pertained to it the best. May we, from the fullness of our hearts, use her own words, "Thy will be done."
