OBITUARY
James Kennedy was born near Dublin, Ireland, Sept. 10, 1830, and died March 27, 1915, aged 84 years, 6 months and 27 days. At the age of 9 years he moved with his parents to Montreal, Canada. He was married to Mary Ann McMahon Feb. 22, 1859. To their union were born thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy, and one daughter, Mary, died nine years ago. The wife and mother preceded him eight years ago the 23d of March, and another son George died six years ago last August. In 1865 the deceased removed to Chicago where he resided until 1871, during which year he came to Iowa, and located on a farm south of Rhodes, where he lived until a short time before his wife died, when they moved into town. Since his wife's death he has made his home among his children. He died in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the hope of a glorious immortality. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity, Eden Lodge, No. 466, this city. Those left to mourn his departure are David J. and William D. of Upland Calif.; James A, of Casper, Wyo.; C.E. and T.B. of Rhodes, Iowa; Mrs. Ollie Connelly of near Baxter, and Mrs. Jennie Murray, of Coffeeville, Kans.
The funeral services were held at M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, officiated by Rev. Coover. The remains were laid to rest in Eden cemetery. The Masonic order had charge of the services at the cemetery. Relatives in attendance at the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Jennie Murray, of Coffeeville, Kan. and Mrs. Houghton of Chicago, Ill. - Rhodes Review.
