THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, August 4, 2009.

Mildred Hollander, 97, of Ames, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at home. No services are planned.

Mildred was born March 13, 1912, in Rockford, Ill., to Frank W. and Ressie (Jordan) Willoughby. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Rockford College and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. She taught at Rockford High School. She married Willard Hollander Sept. 8, 1940, in Rockford. She was a member of the ISU Faculty Women’s Club for more than 50 years and was a member of the Iowa Genealogical Society. She enjoyed reading, gardening, photography and working on the family genealogy.

She is survived by four sons, Adrian W. “Ted” (Eleanor) Hollander, of Chicago, Paul J. Hollander, of Ames, James F. (Rosalie) Hollander, of Little Rock, Ark., and Andrew L. (Karen) Hollander, of Edgewood, N.M.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials may be given to Reiman Gardens or the Iowa Genealogical Society.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
