Leland Moats, 71, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at North Grand Christian Church in Ames.
Lee was born in 1937 near Woolstock, the son of Benjamin and Edna Moats.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara; son, Brent; son, Blaine; daughter, Tari; and son, Chad.
Lee grew up in Webster City. He met Barb while working at the drive-in theatre in Webster City. They were friends for a few years before falling in love and married in 1960. They moved to Ames in 1963, where Lee worked the next 27 years as a systems analyst at Iowa State University. After retirement, Lee and Barb moved to Gilbert, Ariz., where they lived the last eight years.
Lee and Barb were charter members at North Grand Christian Church in Ames, and over the past eight years have been members of Central Christian Church in Arizona. Outside of his faith, the most important thing to Lee was his family. He loved to spend time with his children and his eight grandchildren. He touched so many people in his life and was an amazing father and Christian man. We will truly miss him.
Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting his family.
