BERNADINE DUELAND

Bernadine Dueland, 64, of RR1, Nevada IA, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1986, at Story County Hospital in Nevada.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, with Pastor Forrest Chaffee officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, 5th St. and Lincoln Hwy., Nevada.

Bernadine Higgs was born May 4, 1922, in Des Moines IA to Wayne Higgs and Alice Scott. She was married to Leonard Dueland at Memorial Lutheran parsonage on March 8, 1941.

Mrs. Dueland was a 20 year employee of the Story County Extension Office in Nevada, and a homemaker.

She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, a past executive board member of the church, and of Martha's Club at the church. She belonged to ODO Club in Nevada Township.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard, of Nevada; her mother, Alice Higgs of Nevada; two children, Dean Dueland of Nevada and Diane Hamilton of Summitt NJ; a sister, Janet Thomas of Ames IA; three brothers, Hal Higgs of Des Moines, Marion Higgs of East Hanover NJ, and Jim Higgs of Waukee IA; four grandchildren, and many others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne, and a brother, Donn.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens northwest of Nevada.
