Paul F. Comfort

Paul F. Comfort, 94, of the Madrid Home for the Aging in Madrid, IA, passed away Sunday, March 12, 1989.
He was born Nov. 8, 1894 in Stuart, IA, the son of Fred and Catherine Rollinson Comfort. On Feb. 4, 1920 he married Harriet D. Scott at Salem, IA.
They farmed south of Ellsworth, IA until 1936 when they moved to Nevada, IA, to farm. They moved into the city of Nevada when they retired in 1973. In 1985 both became residents of the Madrid Home of the Aging.
He was a membr of the First United Methodist Church and a veteran of WWI, serving as a medic in the U.S.Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post and the Nevada area Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, parents, stepmother, two sisters, six brothers and one dranddaughter.
He is survived by one son, Paul R. Comfort of Black Canyon City, AZ. and one daughter, Harriet Whitmore of Boone, IA; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. William Ballard officiating. Interment will be in the Zearing Cemetery in Zearing, IA.
Friends may call at the church Thursday from 4-9 p.m. and again Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present at the church on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m. to greet friends.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Nevada or the Madrid Home of the Aging.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone, IA, are in charge of the arrangements.
