E. F. Safly died Sunday
E. Ferrel Safly, 71, R. R. 2, died Sunday at Mary Greeley Hospital.
Services are Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Simmons of the First United Methodist church officiating. Burial is in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
He was born March 9, 1902 the son of James and Lettisia Safly. He came to Ames at the age of 14. He graduated from Jordan High School and attended Iowa State University. Mr. Safly was a member of the First United Methodist church and the Story County Farm Bureau. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Ernestine; a daughter, Mrs. Nadine Christianson, Renton, Wash.; a son, Dean, Decater, Ill.; a brother, Howard, Route 3; a sister, Mrs. Inez Spencer, Newton; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The family will receive friends tonight at the Adams Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the United Methodist Church.---from the Ames Daily Tribune Mon., Sept. 24. 1973
