THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, February 15, 2009.
Naomi Elizabeth Doser, 90, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at her home in McCallsburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, with a Rosary at 6 p.m., and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, all at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada. Father Dagit will be officiating. Burial will be in the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.
Naomi Elizabeth Doser was born July 3, 1918, in northwest Marshall County, to Roy and Dessa (Elliot) Stackhouse. She graduated from Liberty Township School. She married Lawrence Doser at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 15, 1939, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
After living for a time in the Baxter area, they moved to McCallsburg in March 1949. She was the organist and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada. She was a member of McCallsburg Lions Club and St. Anne’s Study Club.
Naomi worked at Donnley’s Corporation and Roland Canning Factory, but her favorite job was to be a farm wife. She loved to cook and bake for everyone. She enjoyed traveling, celebrations, music, flowers, playing cards and doing for others. She was very competitive, even at 90, and loved watching softball and baseball.
Surviving are her children, Stan (Cheryl) Doser, of Des Moines, and Pat Bjortomt, of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Junior (Rena) Stackhouse, of Indianola; six grandchildren David (Shannon) Doser, Karen (Terry) Fox, Melanie Doser, Abbie Doser, Scott Bjortomt and Gwen (Blake) Hunter; nine great-grandchildren, Nathan, Heather and Austin Hunter, Olivia Fox, Jordan and Lauren Bjortomt, and Tatum, Sam and Drake Doser. She has numerous nieces and nephews that were so good to her, and she loved them dearly, as well as many friends who enjoyed her marvelous cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Richard, Merrill and Donald Stackhouse; and one sister, Ruth Mass.
Fredregill Funeral Home of Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
