Last Rites for Kari Williams Held at Huxley
HUXLEY - Funeral services for Mrs. Kari Williams, 82, were held Wednesday morning from the Lincoln Lutheran church here at 11 a. m. with the Rev. Peter Buland in charge. Death was caused by cancer.
Two musical numbers were sung by Mrs. Roy Elliott and Miss Gladys Tweedt and Mrs. Elliott also sang a Norwegian hymn. The sermon was preached in both English and Norwegian. Donations to missions were given in honor of the deceased by the Lincoln Ladies aid society and floral offerings were many and beautiful.
Services were held in the afternoon from the Elim Lutheran church at Randall with interment in the Randall cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arnold Skromme of Kelley, Ernest Williams of Randall, Lewis, Austin and A?d Eide of Ankeny and Walter Williams of Huxley.
Mrs. Williams, daughter of Lars and Helga Markheis, was born May 11, 1853 in Norway. She came to America in 1893 with her husband and four children. Five children were born to this couple: Lars, Willis, Helga, Anna and Jorie, the latter dying in infancy before his parents came to America.
The family lived near Ellsworth after their arrival in Iowa. Mrs. Williams also resided at Randall and Kenyon, Mian., before coming
to Huxley where she has resided the past six years. She had been in poor health for some time and had been blind for the past three years.She is survived by one son, Lars, of Huxley, with whom she made her home; one sister, Mrs. Helga Rafdal in Norway; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Williams died in 1917.
