Elden A. Bauge, 92, of Ames, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames, with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Elden was born July 24, 1916, in a log cabin northeast of Huxley, the youngest of 15 children born to Lars and Anna (Fjelland) Bauge. He married Marguerite Berrett on Oct. 1, 1939. They shared 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2003. He worked as a farmhand until 1961, at which time he took a job with the National Animal Disease Lab. He retired from the lab in 1981 after 20 years of service.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Judy Bauge, of Ames; grandchildren, Lynnette (Mark) Swenson, of Ames, Amy (Mark) Nuetzmann, of Liberty, Mo., Jason (Tammie) Bauge, of Altoona, and Allison Schroeder, of DePere, Wis.; and seven great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Larry; one daughter, Rita Becvar; his parents; eight brothers; and six sisters.

Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.
