Marilyn J. Faulkner, 72, of Nevada, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Story County Long Term Care. Memorial services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services in Nevada.

Marilyn Jesse Faulkner, 72, of Nevada, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Story County Long Term Care. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Marilyn was born July 29, 1936, in rural Nevada, to Emery S. and Vera (Davis) Black. She was a 1954 graduate of Fernald High School and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She married Thomas O. Faulkner June 9, 1959, in Storm Lake. She retired in 1994 from the National Veterinary Services Lab in Ames. She enjoyed nature and being with her animals.

She is survived by one son, T.J. Faulkner, of Nevada; two daughters, Jerra (Kirk) Swanson, of Red Oak, and Peggy Faulkner, of Ames; two brothers, Loy (Helen) Black and Roy (Janet) Black, all of Nevada; one sister-in-law, Mary Ada Black, of Nevada; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas Faulkner; one daughter, Zoann, in 1963; and a brother, Floyd Black, on Nov. 14, 1997.

Memorials may be given in Marilyn's name to the Izaak Walton League.
