Rites for Henry Hoberland Held Last Sunday.

Funeral services for Henry Hoberland who passed away suddenly on June 28 were held from the Evangelical Church Sunday afternoon. The officiating minister was Rev. C.L. Fuller. Six close friends of Mr. Hoberlands acted as honorary bearers. These were Harry Wolford, Arthur Couser, Frank Cerka, Bert Hix, N.H. Norton and E.F. Moore. The active bearers were six nephews and were Aaron Buffington, Elmer Buffington, William Cozzens, Harold Fines, Earl Sparrow and Ross Sparrow. Music was rendered by a mixed quartette consisting of Myrtle Martin, Orpha Hankins, Gilbert Womeldorff and Glenn McBride. Their accompanist was Miss Mardean Joyce. The large group of beautiful flowers wer nicely arranged by Vida Tisdale, Lela Madison and Florice Deal.

Henry Hoberland, son of Christian and Henrietta Hoberland was born May 5, 1863 at Somomauk, Illinois. At three years of age with his parents he moved to a farm near State Center. At the age of 17 they moved into Story County, settling near Pleasant Vale.

On April 7, 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Elva Sparrow. Outside of one year in Marshall county and 10 months at Sheffield their entire married life of 58 years was spent in the community of Zearing. Two children, a boy and a girl came to bless their home. The daughter Mrs. Ilo Holveck preceeded her father in death.

Mr. Hoberland acted as assessor for a period of 28 years. Twenty-two of them for Zearing and six in Sherman Township. He was a devoted member of the church, serving in various official capacities, being Steward at the time of his death. He had been a member of the Evangelical church for a period of 52 years.

His sudden departure from this life took place on June 28, 1944 at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 22 days. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife, one son John of Zearing, one sister, Mrs. Louise Holle, five grandchildern and 11 great grandchildren.

Schultz all of Nevada.
