THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 26, 2008.
Larry Walker, 51, of Ames, died Monday, June 23, in Springfield, Mo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Des Moines.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Adams Funeral Home.
Larry Walker was born Oct. 9, 1956, in Des Moines, to Russell and Marilyn (Trotter) Walker. He attended two years of college and served in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1980. He was a senior designer at Sauer Danfoss for 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting, coaching soccer, walking and training his dogs, riding his motorcycle, and especially being a dad and grandpa.
He is survived by one daughter, Erin (Adam) Dunn, of Boone; one son, Kyle Walker, of Arizona; his parents, Russ and Marilyn Walker, of Ames; three sisters, Mary Ellen (John) Walker-Scearcy, Deb (Richard) Hockett and Susan (Phil) Knaack; two grandchildren, Cadence Walker and Aubrey Dunn; Kathy Walker, mother of Erin and Kyle; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extraordinary friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Walker.
Memorials may be directed to ABATE of Iowa Share the Road (a program to educate motorists about being aware of motorcycles).
