THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, June 27, 2008.
Russell Pevestorf, 54, of rural Nevada, died Wednesday, June 25, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services celebrating Russ's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, with his brother-in-law, Ben Ramirez, officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Born Nov. 15, 1953, at Story County Hospital in Nevada, Russ was one of five children born to Loren and Mary (Knight) Pevestorf. He graduated in Nevada High School's Class of 1971 and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa. He was a long-haul driver for Ashley Furniture in Wisconsin and enjoyed hunting, golf and making everyone laugh. He knew no strangers and played baseball in years past as well as high school and college wrestling. Most recently, he was awarded a million-mile safety award for no accidents. His recent hobbies also included photography and bird watching.
Left to celebrate his life are his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Jason, of Nevada, and Chad, of Melbourne; his parents, Loren and Mary; stepdaughter, Traci (Brian) Niederjohn, and their children, Austin and Ashley; siblings, Laura Lee (Ben) Ramirez, of Des Moines, and their five children and seven grandchildren, Ronal, of Norwalk, and his six children and six grandchildren, Roger, of Nevada, and Brenda (Dave) Janson, of Colo; as well as a host of friends.
In death, he has rejoined his grandparents.
