Ralph R. Doggett
Ralph R. Doggett, 83, died at his home at 231 S River, Saturday, Jan 5.
Funeral services will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, Jan 8 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Timothy Tinker of the Nazarene Church will officiate and the Rev. Donald Forbes of the Calvary United Methodist Church will assist. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Mr. Doggett was born Dec 12, 1896 near Cambridge. He attended Maxwell Schools. He married Ruth McCoy on July 12, 1936. Mr. Doggett came to Ames in 1927 where he was employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission until retiring in 1956. He owned and operated a resort near Bemidji, Minn. from 1956-59 when he returned to Ames. He is also a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, James of Fairfield and David of Cupertino, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Tate of West Des Moines; three sisters, Maude of Ames, Mrs. Ruby Millard of Ames and Mrs. Fern Shelton of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by one son, Tom.
