Normen K. Hetland, 78, of rural Story City died May 4, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services was held Thursday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Randall.

Normen was born Oct. 24, 1929 near Radcliffe to Nils and Karina (Bjelland) Hetland. He attended Lincoln #6 Country School. Normen was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Norman married Ann Marie (Ann) Hansen of Jewell on Feb. 27, 1959 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell and to this union their only child, Bruce Allen, was born on May 4, 1962.

Normen passed away May 4, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at the age of 78.

Survivors include his wife, Ann of rural Story City; his son, Bruce Allen (Kim Childers) Hetland of rural Story City; two grandchildren, Jamie Sue and Justin Allen; and three sisters, Carrie Brightwell of Clinton, Bertha Dubberke of Radcliffe and Dorothy Tribby of Ellsworth.

Normen was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Peter and Tom.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall.

Memorials may be made to his church or Riverside Bible Camp Campership fund.
