THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, January 2, 2007.

Frank Wingrove died Jan. 1, 2008, after a hard-fought journey for a cure for the cancer he was diagnosed with in May 2007.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, Jan. 5, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m.

He loved life, education, and travel with his wife, Susan. He was born in Arion, the son of Linn and Martha Wingrove.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University, and then taught science in Elkhorn and Sioux City before starting dental school in 1969. After graduating in 1973 in dentistry from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, he went on to earn a master's degree in periodontics in 1975 and his MBA in 1989 from University of Iowa Business School. He practiced periodontics in Ames, Charles City, Marshalltown, Pella and Waterloo. He also enjoyed teaching at the University of Iowa Dental School and doing research with Regena Therapeutics.

Frank will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and healer. He is survived by his wife, Susan; their children, Dawn (husband, Scott, daughter, Bailey), DaNae (husband, Paul), Danielle (fiancé, Alex), Ryan (Beth) and Reid (Deana); and siblings Linda Dreibelbis, and Cheri Humphry.
