Marjorie Marie O'Neal, 87, of State Center, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Memorial Lutheran Church Small Chapel in Nevada, with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating.
Marjorie Marie O'Neal was born June 25, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Edward J. and Mary (Anderson) Flanigan. She married George F. O'Neal Jr. July 12, 1940, in Rock Rapids. He was killed June 11, 1945, during World War II. She also was married to Dr. E.E. Everson. She was employed at Donnelley Marketing and Crow's Hybrid in Nevada. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and the Gold Star Wives of America. She loved animals and enjoyed being Irish, Republican politics, bowling, gardening and raising tomatoes.
She is survived by one daughter, Susanne (Jerry) Phillips, of State Center; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George O'Neal; one brother, George Flanigan; and three sisters, Vivian, Ann and Hazel.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
