Dorothy Jean Barrett, 67, of Colo, died Saturday, Jan. 20, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Colo United Methodist Church in Colo. Burial will be in Colo Cemetery.

Dorothy Jean Barrett was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Story County, to Harold and Opal (Hayes) Schoppe. She graduated from Colo High School in 1958. She married James Barrett June 20, 1959, at Colo United Methodist Church.

She was an elementary school secretary, daycare provider, homemaker and housewife. She was a member of Colo United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Robert James (Connie) Barrett, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; one daughter, Christina (Joel) Powers, of Adel; four grandchildren; and one brother, Earl "Dan" (Norma) Schoppe, of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and her husband, James, on Dec. 29, 2002.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Colo United Methodist Church.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
