Dorothy M. Wagner, 89, formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Dec. 31, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. in Ames Municipal Cemetery.Dorothy M. Wagner was born Feb. 28, 1917, to H. Vern and Pearl (Wiley) Wilson. She graduated from Galva High School and then taught country school. She married Amos Wagner June 7, 1941, in Kansas. They lived in Odebolt until 1966 and then moved to Ames where Amos was the director of buildings and grounds for the Ames schools. Dorothy worked in the food service department for Ames Community Schools. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona for more than 15 years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Northminster Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one son, Dennis (Martha) Wagner, of Urbandale; two daughters, Karen (Doug) Ely, of West Des Moines, and Cathy (Wayne) Weuve, of McCallsburg; four grandchildren, Ryan Wagner, of Denver, Colo., Kathleen Ely, of West Des Moines, Brian (Dawn) Weuve, of Park Rapids, Minn., and Eric Weuve, of Carson, Iowa; and two brothers, Roy (LaMerle) Wilson, of Galva, and Dwight (Barbara) Wilson, of Hurst, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild; and one sister, Helen.
