Joe Stoeffler, 27, formerly of Winterset, died Sunday, Oct. 29, at his home in Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Pastor Jim Howland officiating. Burial will be in Winterset Cemetery.

Joe Stoeffler was born April 15, 1979, in Winterset, the son of Fred and Susan Kay (Jacobson) Stoeffler. He was a 1997 graduate of Winterset High School and later attended Iowa State University and graduated in 2002 with a degree in horticulture, with an emphasis in turf management. He lived in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, since 2003 and was employed by Muirfield Village Golf Course in Columbus.

He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. He was an exceptional athlete. He was involved in football, baseball and golf in high school and continued to be an avid golfer.

He is survived by his parents, Kay and Don Stanley, of Winterset, and Fred Stoeffler and Linda Vierling, also of Winterset; one sister, Alyssa Tadlock and husband, Brad, of Winterset; one brother, Adam Stoeffler, of Ames; one grandfather, Norman "Jake" Jacobson and wife, Joanne; one nephew, Garrett; a special friend, Jill Riggs; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; and his dog, Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Art and Marie Stoeffler; and his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Jacobson.

A visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund established in Joe's name.
