THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, October 7, 2006.

Daryl Onel Thorson, 54, rural Boone, died Oct. 5, on his home farm as the result of a farm accident.
Memorial services will be Monday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Story City. The family will greet friends on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
Daryl was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Ames, to Onel Thorson and Leora Wheeler Thorson.
Daryl married Kathy Jackson on Oct. 21, 1972. He was an auditor at Sauer-Danfoss for 34 years, as well as farming the family farm. He began farming at age 16.
He graduated from Ames High School in 1970 and from DMAAC in accounting. Daryl was active in 4-H as a member and 4-H leader and had been a member of the Bethesda Church softball team. One of his biggest loves was spending time with his grandchildren.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Kathy Thorson, of 2170 120th, Boone; two daughters, Rebecca (LeWayne) White, of Grimes, and Teresa (John) Fuquey, of DeSoto; one son, Jacob (Stephanie) Thorson, of Fertile; and five grandchildren: Dagan White, Aislyn White, Bianca Fuquey, Caden Bauchaine and Eli Thorson.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne.
Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City, was in charge of arrangements.
