Colleen Michelsen, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 1, at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Ark. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, in Bella Vista, with the Rev. Fred Nelson officiating.

Colleen Michelsen was born April 24, 1927, in Ames, to Harold Wilmer Olson and Judith Adeline (Jerdeman) Olson. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista 17 years ago from Ames. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, where she was very active in various board activities and the church choir. She loved golf and making handcrafts, and was a member of the Classy Lassies Golf Group, Bella Vista Crime Watch and Women's Shelter volunteer.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Duane Michelsen, of Bella Vista; one son, Jack Michelsen and wife, Sharon, of West Melbourne, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Michelsen, of Nevada; one brother, Pastor Harold "Hal" Olson and wife, Joan, of Burnsville, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Paul Michelsen, Thomas Michelsen, Nicholas Michelsen, Duane James and Kathryn Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Jean Marie Hunter.

Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory of Bella Vista is in charge of arrangements.
